In Mexico: Schools Recognize the Positive Results of “AaQ” for Families

The Chief Operating Officer, Enrique Bretschnedier Lozano, of La Salle College said in a letter to AFF, that “Aprendiendo a Querer” (Alive to the World) is very effective for students in elementary, middle and high school grades, and he emphasized that parents have received "tools to better educate and understand their children." thanks to lectures specifically for parents that have been offered at schools.

In another letter, Ms. Martha Ayub, Academic head of Escuela Mexicana del Valle, said "Aprendiendo a Querer" (Alive to the World) satisfactorily meets the objectives of her Human Development classes.

Carlos Moreno, who works for AFF’s distributor in Mexico, reported that approximately 19 thousand students in elementary, middle and high school levels of 59 schools in Mexico are currently enrolled in the “Aprendiendo a Querer” program. In order to increase the impact of the character education program, more than 700 teachers and 8000 parents have received training courses and lectures.

"In Mexico there are alarming statistics on addictions, eating disorders and promiscuity. “Aprendiendo a Querer” (Alive to the World) is the ideal tool to help revert this trend”, said Carlos Moreno. AFF hopes to continue to expand its reach in 2012 in Mexico City and the rest of the country.

School for Parents

While students are studying “Aprendiendo a Querer” ("Alive to the World") in order to become better people today and tomorrow, their parents are following a similar methodology called “Enseñando a Querer” (“Teaching to be Alive to the World”).

AFF’s initiative aims to provide parents with strategies and techniques for understanding and communicating with their children more effectively, by identifying their weaknesses and turning them into strengths and in this way guide their kids through the various stages of childhood, at their own pace.

Participants in “Enseñando a Querer” are divided into four groups according to the age of their children. Each group discusses a variety of topics including "The challenges of families today," "How do I teach my children social skills?", ”Talking about sexuality," and "Help at home with my teenager,” among others. In addition, lectures on topics such as "The impact of social networks" are also offered.
