Wellington College: Crowthorne, Berkshire, United Kingdom
On April 2, 2010, Christine de Marcellus de Vollmer, Chair of Alliance for the Family / AFF, was awarded with the Global Leadership Award, granted jointly by the Leadership Institute, the Bow Group and the World Congress of Families/Howard Center for Family, Religion and Society.
These organizations work to produce a new generation of public policy leaders unwavering in their commitment to free enterprise and universal, permanent values.
Christine Vollmer was recognized for her impact on the international pro-family movement and the unifying element between religious groups in the defense of the natural family.
A member of the Pontifical Council for the Family for over 15 years, she has helped the Holy See to know and ally with outstanding non-Catholic academics and leaders in many countries who contribute significantly to the anthropological and social understanding of the importance of the natural family for the survival of humanity and our civilization. The Natural Family has been described in the Family Manifesto promulgated by Dr. Allan Carlson, of the Howard Center and Paul Mero of the Sutherland Foundation and promoted by World Congress of Families, in which Mrs. Vollmer functions as a Member of the Managing Committee.
A new pedagogy to effectively teach children and young people the necessary values, virtues and skills for successful married and family life has been developed since 1984 by a team headed by Christine Vollmer. This ground-breaking new pedagogy, centered on the Alive to the World curriculum, is now international and welcomed by people of all faiths.
The Award included participation in the International School of Fundraising of the Leadership Institute, an activity much appreciated by this leader whose aim is to take positive programs which enhance happiness and stability, personal and social, through the creation of Human and Social Capital, to all corners of the globe.
