Graduate in International Business Administration and Licentiate in International Trade from the Universidad Internacional de las Américas of Costa Rica, Mr. Lazo is currently in charge of operations and market development for AFF. He has completed several specialized courses related to his professional work, and has travelled abroad to various agencies involved with international trade, such as the International Commerce Center in Geneva, the Spanish Institute of Foreign Trade, the Center for the Promotion of Imports from Developing Countries (CBI), the Andaluza Agency of Foreign Trade, and Correios Do Brasil.
Mr. Lazo has worked for several companies, both in their local and international units. He has also been a Foreign Trade Specialist, Foreign Trade Chief Officer and Director of Market Promotion and Development for the Peruvian Agency for the Promotion of Small and Medium Business (PROMPYME). He was part of the team that designed and lead the implementation of a World Bank financed Project called GECEX. Additionally, he has carried out a number of consultancies for different foreign trade projects of several organizations, including the SNV, MYPE Competitiva Project (USAID/PERU), Proyecto Competitividad II (Andean Development Corporation).
Mr. Lazo has been appointed to several working groups in Peru related to economic and trade development. For example, he took part in the working group that prepared the Peruvian Export Strategic Plan (PENX) 2003-2013, as well as in the multi-disciplinary team that designed and implemented the EXPORTAFACIL Program (exports using the mail service).
On the academic side, Mr. Lazo has been a speaker in numerous regional workshops and seminars related to the Andean Trade Preference and Drug Erradication Act (ATPDEA), the Free Trade Agreement between Peru and the US, the strengthening of the exporting capacities of small businesses, etc. He has been a professor of the Foreign Trade Technological Institute of ADEX.
