Antonia Willemsen

Miss Antonia Willemsen is a Trustee of the Alberto Vollmer Foundation. She is a consultant for the Pontifical Council for the Family at the Holly See and a member of the “Consiglio di Gestione” of the Pontifical Council for the Unity of Christians.

She is also Chairman of the foundation Aid to the Church in Need and is a board member of the Belgium chapter of the same foundation.

She was secretary general of the foundation and her duties consisted in running the international headquarters, and coordinating the 17 national offices - including regular visits to the countries concerned and the participation in their national board meetings. In addition she travelled regularly to the project countries. Her journeys have also frequently taken her to Latin America, Africa, Asia and specially the Philippines and a number of Eastern European countries. She was also intensively involved in contacts with the Orthodox Church in Russia.

She ran the Latin America desk of CEBEMO, a state-supported agency for Third World developing projects, based at the Hague, Netherlands. During this time she was responsible for researching, writing up and in some cases visiting these state-funded projects. For this purpose she visited Colombia, Peru, Chile and Brazil. Her immediate partners in these countries, along with the project holders, were the Dutch ambassadors.

Miss Willemsen is Chairman of the Catholic Radio and Television Network, Chairman of the Dutch Foundation Stichting Little Philippines and a Board member of the Dutch newspaper “Katholiek Nieuwsblad”.
