Mrs. Danièle Sauvage, who holds a Higher School Certificate from Cambridge, is President of Africa Family Life Federation, a network of 20 national associations that promote family life projects, HIV-AIDS prevention and youth programs. A native of Mauritius, where she lives with her husband and their three children, she has worked in social programs in Africa since 1977.
Since 1980, Mrs. Sauvage has been the Program Director of Couple Unity, in which one hundred Mauritian educators per year acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to promote stable, fulfilling marriages. She has designed an innovative training curriculum, empowered teachers and school administrators through a consultative committee, and developed a system of ongoing professional education through case studies. She created and implemented RADO, a program for needy out-of-school adolescents, with funding from UNICEF. Every two years, one hundred and fifty young people enroll in the program.
